An extremely common skin condition that causes areas of dry, scaly, red and itchy skin, eczema can appear as early as the first year of life. This dermatitis can be triggered by contact with rough clothing, detergents, soaps, fragranced products, sun exposure and more. Eczema can appear as early as infancy and usually involves the cheeks at this age.  In slightly older children, eczema usually appears in the folds of the arms, behind the knees and in other skin folds, while adults also experience eczema on the hands, neck, chest and other parts of the body. Eczema can usually be controlled with proper skin cleansing, appropriate moisturization and treatment with various over the counter and prescription products.
