Monica Ponce joined Sunset Dermatology in 2011. She graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Science in 2001 and completed her Physician Assistant studies at Miami-Dade College in 2004.

As a dermatologic physician assistant she is trained to diagnose and treat a variety of skin conditions in adults and children including acne, warts, atopic dermatitis, skin cancer and psoriasis. She also performs surgical procedures such as removal of benign lesions (cyst, moles, etc.) and skin cancer excisions.  In addition, she has received specialized training in advanced skin rejuvenation including administration of Botox and/or Dysport, dermal filler injections, skin resurfacing procedures and laser hair removal.  Monica has special interests in cosmetic lip augmentation, sclerotherapy to remove spider veins and allergy patch testing.

Monica is passionate about ensuring that her patients are satisfied.  She prides herself in empowering her patients by educating them on their dermatologic conditions and treatment options and goals.

Monica holds certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.  She is a member of the Florida Academy of Physician Assistants, the American College of Phlebology and the American Academy of Physician Assistants as well as an adjunct member of the American Contact Dermatitis Society.

On her free time, Monica, enjoys boating and spending time outdoors with her two daughters and husband.
